A legacy of passion and craftsmanship, the Glasshouse stands today as a reflection of John’s creativity, craftsmanship, and deep-rooted expertise in growing and building.
The Glasshouse is shaped by a family legacy of growing, building, and working closely with the natural world. It reflects decades of hands-on experience in horticulture, a deep respect for plants, and a belief that spaces rooted in living things carry a special kind of energy.
Built by John, the space is a reflection of both his craftsmanship and his lifelong relationship with greenhouse growing. Raised in a Dutch family from the Netherlands, his roots in horticulture began early, shaped by his family’s greenhouses and their emigration to Canada in the 1960s. What began among rows of thriving plants grew into a career in the horticultural industry starting in the 1980s, developing a deep understanding of plants, growing environments, and the care it takes to help living things thrive.
Today, that knowledge lives on in every part of The Glasshouse—from the plants selected and the custom planters built, to the atmosphere of a space that naturally invites people to slow down, connect, and gather among greenery.
The Glasshouse is shaped by the same intention: to create environments that feel alive.
